Super Bowl Sunday is right around the corner. As the Bengals and the Rams prepare for the ultimate football showdown on February 13th, the rest of us are deciding what we are going to do for Super Bowl Sunday – and most importantly what we are going to eat.
Regardless of whether you are having a low-key celebration, watching the big game by yourself, hosting an epic party at your house or heading elsewhere to watch the game (or the commercials), food temptations (chips, pretzels, nachos, buffalo wings, hot dogs, brownies, etc.) will likely be all around you. Fear not, though, there are plenty of easy healthy and tasty snack options available that you can stock up on before Super Bowl Sunday.
To Indulge or Not to Indulge
Sure, it’s always okay to indulge every once in a while or have a cheat day. However, if you subscribe to eating clean/healthy on a mostly daily basis, bouncing back from a full day of indulgent eating on Super Bowl Sunday (in other words – eating crap) might be rough. Not to mention, you might feel pangs of guilt for giving in to so many food temptations.
Thankfully, in 2022, there are ample easy healthy snack food options with clean ingredients that taste amazing even on the shelves of stores like Walmart and Target. This wasn’t the case even a few years ago. Grocery stores and big box stores are finally getting wise that many consumers are looking for quality, healthy food options – whether they are following a Paleo diet, Keto diet, Vegan diet or just want products with cleaner ingredients.
So, why not leave the guilt and crappy food aside (or at least limit your consumption of them) by picking up some of these guilt-free, healthy and delicious snack options before the big game. Let’s go!
The Top Ten (In No Specific Order) Easy Healthy Snacks
1. Siete Grain Free Tortilla Chips

Siete is a thriving grain-free brand which is now available in so many stores nationwide. The company was founded by a Mexican-American family in South Texas who needed to adopt a grain-free diet for health reasons but still wanted to enjoy traditional Mexican dishes.
Siete Foods created a phenomenal line of products including grain-free wraps, tortilla chips, potato chips, cookies, hot sauce, seasoning packets, cashew-based Queso, etc. that are made with the finest ingredients. I think you’ll agree that their products taste equal to or even better than the original grain-based or dairy-based products.
Need tortilla chips to serve with your salsa or guac for the Super Bowl? Siete Grain Free Tortilla Chips are a next level, healthy choice. Siete substitutes the corn that is found in most other tortilla chips with grain-free cassava and coconut flours. Rather than using inflammatory seed oils (like canola, sunflower, etc.), Siete only uses high quality avocado oil.
Siete is slightly more expensive than traditional tortilla chips. However, since they are available almost everywhere now, you can usually find them on sale at a store nearby. Siete offers a variety of different grain free tortilla chip flavor options including Sea Salt, Lime, Nacho, Jalapeno Lime, Fuego (super hot) and Ranch.
Are Siete Grain Free Tortilla Chips compatible with my diet/lifestyle? Siete Grain Free Tortilla Chips are perfect for Paleo, Vegan, grain free, dairy free, gluten free, soy free and non-GMO diets.
2. Dang Coconut Chips

Dang has created addictive Lightly Salted Coconut Chips that are plant-based and made only from whole foods. Founded by Thai-American brothers based on their mom’s recipe, the Dang Lightly Salted Coconut Chips only have two ingredients: coconut and a hint of sea salt. You can’t get any simpler than that!
What you’ll likely love most about the Dang Lightly Salted variety, is that the chips are the perfect combination of sweet and salty. Dang’s products are not as widely available as Siete, but you can find these coconut chips at Target, Whole Foods, some grocery stores, pharmacy chains and online.
Dang currently sells three coconut chip varieties: Original, Lightly Salted and Caramel Sea Salt. The caramel variety is sweetened only with coconut sugar, which makes it an ideal, lightly sweetened Paleo chip option.
Are Dang Lightly Salted Coconut Chips compatible with my diet/lifestyle? Dang Lightly Salted Coconut Chips are great for Keto, Paleo, Vegan, dairy free, gluten free, soy free, non-GMO and low sugar diets.
3. Lesser Evil Paleo Puffs

The Lesser Evil brand is probably one of the best snack lines available for Paleo and Vegan eaters. Lesser Evil, which was originally founded in 2005, is not only becoming well known for its line of healthy snack options but also for its sustainable food practices. To support their claim that they produce the world’s most sustainable snack, Lesser Evil only partners with responsible farms and employs energy-efficient practices within their factories.
By relying on premium ingredients and minimum processing, they offer a much healthier alternative to traditional Super Bowl Snacks. Lesser Evil uses almost exclusively organic ingredients to boot. While they offer a diverse line of delicious Organic Popcorn, Power Curls, Mini Cookies, Veggie Sticks and Sun Popper products, you absolutely must try the Paleo Puffs.
Like the Siete Grain Free tortilla chips, the Lesser Evil Paleo Puffs are grain free and made with clean and simple ingredients. To appeal to a variety of taste buds, they offer several flavor options (Himalayan Pink Salt, “No Cheese” Cheesiness, Fiery Hot and Himalayan Salt + Apple Cider Vinegar). If you miss eating Cheetos or cheese puffs, go for the “No Cheese” Cheesiness flavor. You won’t be disappointed.
While Lesser Evil’s popcorn is widely available, you can currently purchase Lesser Evil Paleo Puffs at Whole Foods, Sprouts, CVS pharmacies, Walmart.com, select grocery stores nationwide and some health/natural food stores.

4. Terra Real Vegetable Chips – Plantains with Sea Salt

Terra is a snack brand that has been around for a long time – over two decades to be exact. You can find Terra vegetable chips and snacks on the shelves of most supermarkets, Walmarts, Targets, Sprouts, Whole Foods and most big box stores.
Terra is well known for their colorful and exotic vegetable chips; however, unfortunately most of their chips are made using (inflammatory) canola oil.
Terra’s Plantain Sea Salt and Sweet Plantain Chips are the Terra products that often fly under the radar to most shoppers. However, both of their plantain chip options are made with coconut oil instead of canola oil – which makes them a much healthier snack option.
If you prefer savory chips over sweet, you’ll likely be partial to the Plantain Sea Salt variety which only includes three ingredients: green plantain, coconut oil and salt. These chips are a perfect alternative to standard potato chips. However, the Terra Plantain Sea Salt Chips can be harder to find compared to the Terra Sweet Plantain Chips. (The Plantain Sea Salt Chips are usually in-stock at Whole Foods, though.)
If you can’t find the Terra Plantain Sea Salt Chips in your store and don’t want to sample the Sweet Plantain option, your’re not completely out of luck. Barnana’s Organic Plantain Chips with Himalayan Sea Salt and Boulder Canyon Potato Chips with Olive Oil are terrific substitute options.
Are Terra Plantain Sea Salt Chips compatible with my diet/lifestyle? Terra Plantain Sea Salt Chips are optimal for Paleo, Vegan, grain free, dairy free, gluten free and soy free diets.
5. Epic Oven Baked Pork Rinds

Pork rinds or chicharrones are staple snacks in many Paleo or Keto folks’ pantries. They are one of the few, if not only, no carb snack option that actually tastes good. However, most of the pork rinds available in the supermarkets are deep fried and high in fat. Epic makes excellent oven baked pork rind options that have 40% less fat than most of the leading pork rinds in the market.
Besides the lower fat content, you’ll love that the Epic Oven Baked Pork Rinds are much less greasy and have a lighter texture compared to traditional pork rinds. As an added bonus, the Epic Oven Baked Pork Rinds are made with skins from pork raised without antibiotics. These pork rinds are also very filling. Unlike potato chips, pork rinds tend to fill you up after eating just a few – so you are likely to pig out less (no pun intended).
Epic was started by a former vegetarian and now paleo couple who were interested in introducing nutrient dense animal protein that could be accessed easily by the masses. Although they initially started with their popular 100% grass feed meat, fruit and nut bars, Epic has since expanded its product line to include bacon bites, bone broth, beef liver bites, chicken crisps and pork rinds (both oven baked and fried options).
Epic Oven Baked Pork Rinds are available at stores nationwide including Target, Walmart, BJ’s, Whole Foods, Sprouts, and more. As an added bonus, if you don’t finish your bag on Super Bowl Sunday, these leftover rinds can be mashed and used as Keto or Paleo friendly bread crumb for chicken, meatballs or other dishes. You can select from two oven baked pork rind options: Pink Himalayan & Sea Salt and Chili Lime.
Are Epic Oven Baked Pork Rinds compatible with my diet/lifestyle? Epic Oven Baked Pork Rinds are ideal for Paleo, grain free, dairy free, gluten free, low carb and soy free diets.
6. Hu Grain-Free Cookies

Now that we covered the savory guilt-free snack options, let’s turn our attention to dessert. While most people will be stuffing their faces with high sugar, preservative-filled desserts on Super Bowl Sunday, you don’t have to. There are so many healthier dessert options available that will satisfy your sweet cravings and keep you on track with your diet.
Hu Grain-Free Cookies are a great place to start. Hu is a dynamic and fast growing company started by a brother, sister and brother-in-law team in 2009. With its notable slogan “Get Back to Human,” which is featured on all of their packaging, Hu focuses on producing high quality products with simple, healthy ingredients and excluding industrial, inflammatory ingredients.
While you’re likely familiar with Hu’s game changing and heavenly chocolate bars, you will likely be equally impressed by their cookies – which are a newer release. All of their cookies are grain free, have no added sugar or sugar alcohols (they are sweetened by dates!) and contain no refined starches or lecithins/gums. Hu offers four flavorful cookie varieties: Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodle, Peanut Butter and Ginger Snap. You can’t go wrong with any of these options.
Hu’s cookies are available in Whole Foods, Sprouts, Costco and some grocery stores. You can also order a package or multiple packages of Hu Grain-Free Cookies directly on the Hu website.

7. Emmy’s Organics Coconut Cookies – Dark Cacao

If you can’t resist brownies, than Emmy’s Organics Coconut Dark Cacao Cookies might be something that you want to consider grabbing for the big game. Although Emmy’s Organics consider these small chocolatey treats to be cookies, their soft and chewy texture are much more consistent with brownies.
Emmy’s Organics came to be after a couple experimented with recipes for healthy and organic sweets in one of their mother’s kitchen – who they eventually named the company after. Now, Emmy’s Organics’ products can be found in Whole Foods, Sprouts, in many grocery stores and pharmacy chains nationwide, and on the Emmy’s Organics’ website.
As the company’s name suggests, the Coconut Cookies are made with organic ingredients. The Dark Cacao variety only features seven high quality, organic ingredients and is only sweetened with agave syrup. The ingredients are simple but the taste is delicious. Try comparing those ingredients to other cookies and brownies in the supermarket.
Besides the Dark Cacao variety, Emmy’s Organics Coconut Cookies are also available in Vanilla Bean and Peanut Butter. Although still healthier than most cookies, you may want to avoid Emmy’s Organics’ Birthday Cake and Chocolate Chip Coconut Cookies varieties (which contain a touch of cane sugar) and the Lemon Ginger variety (which contains some sunflower oil).
So, forget the brownies and pick up some of these treats. They will melt in your mouth!
Are Emmy’s Organics Coconut Cookies (Dark Cacao) compatible with my diet/lifestyle? Emmy’s Organics Coconut Cookies (Dark Cacao) are wonderful for grain free, Vegan, dairy free, gluten free, soy free and non-GMO diets.
8. BHU Keto Protein Bars

BHU Keto Protein Bars are the best tasting protein bars – hands down. No other protein bar comes close. The BHU Keto Protein Bars literally taste like soft baked bakery cookies without the crappy ingredients. Each BHU bar is packed with at least 11 grams of protein, top quality organic ingredients and absolutely no cane sugar (they’re sweetened with monk fruit).
BHU Foods’ founder was on a quest to create ultra healthy, organic products without the sugar found in other commercially available products. Hence, BHU Foods came to be. The only downside is that the bars are a little pricey (about $3-$4 a bar). Oh, and they are a little hard to find. You can find them at Target (on sale for $0.50 off right now), Sprouts, select grocery stores or can order direct on the BHU Foods website, though.
If you are heading out to a bar or party for Super Bowl Sunday where you are unsure of the menu or food options, it might be a good idea to drop one of these bars in your bag or pocket. The protein alone will keep you full for quite a while. And you will be stunned that a bar that tastes this good does not contain even an ounce of cane sugar. Want to share these with friends, BHU also sells bags of Keto Bites – so you don’t need to keep the deliciousness to yourself.
Are BHU Keto Protein Bars compatible with my diet/lifestyle? BHU Keto Protein Bars are fantastic for Keto, Vegan, grain free, dairy free, gluten free, low sugar and non-GMO diets.

Like many of the other healthy snack evolution stories, the Evolved founders devised their chocolates and desserts based on a need for healthy options for those following Paleo or Keto diets.
